Opening Times

Daily from 9 am to 5 pm

Please note the special opening hours of our other museums. 

The artillery halls are closed due to construction work. 

The tank hall in the Arsenal is open from Thursday to Sunday from 9 am to 4 pm (except for major events), guided tours take place on every first Sunday of the month at 12:30 pm.

The Republic and Dictatorship (1918 to 1945) hall is currently closed. This exhibition is being revised and will be reopened in spring 2026.

Animals must unfortunately remain outside (except assistance dogs). Lockers are available at the ticket office for a fee of 2 euros.

The Museum of Military History is currently in the middle of a phase of restructuring the content and organisation of individual collection areas. At the moment, the oldest exhibition halls covering the period from 1600 to 1800 are closed for an extended period due to renovation work. Work is also underway until spring 2026 to reorganise the collection area from 1918 - 1956.

In order to still offer the most comprehensive visitor experience possible, the opening hours of the Panzerhalle have been extended from Thursday to Sunday from 9 am to 4 pm.

The two artillery halls are open to the public until November 2 (winter closure).

Guided tour ticket: €4 (for weekend tours)

Students, disabled persons, senior citizens (aged 60 and over), in each case on presentation of ID. Holders of the Lower Austrian family pass. Groups of 9 people or more. Participation in guided tours is only possible with a tour ticket.

The group rate for individual tours for up to 9 people is €50 (instead of €75), including admission at our current reduced admission prices, and €5 per person for groups of 10 or more. Bookings can be made at kulturvermittlung@hgm.at or by calling +43 664 8876 3811.

Free admission for everyone on the first Sunday of each month and on National Day, October 26th!

Children and young people up to the age of 19, participants in teaching events (school and student groups with accompanying teacher), members of ICOM (International Council of Museums), soldiers in uniform, those doing civilian service, members of the Friends of the HGM, severely war-disabled persons, one-time entry with the Lower Austria Card (except for special events, see www.niederoesterreich-card.at), Vienna Pass.
