Weapons and Military Technology
Franz Brödl is responsible for large-scale equipment and military technology in the Weapons and Technology Collection.
Thomas Reichl is a historian and Head of the Weapons and Technology Collection at the Heeresgeschichtliches Museum.
Andreas Sulz is a weapons technician, master gunsmith, and master automotive mechanic. He is a conservator in the Collection Department of the Heeresgeschichtliches Museum and heads the Precision Mechanics Studio within the Weapons and Technology Collection.
Victoria Michlmayer is Head of the Wood Conservation Studio and specialises in the conservation and restoration of wooden and polychrome artefacts. She studied Conservation at the Akademie der bildenden Künste Wien and completed the international master’s programme in Cultural Heritage Conservation and Management. Combining academic expertise with artisanal precision, she develops sustainable conservation strategies that prioritise faithful and authentic preservation of historic fabric.
Rainer Posch is a conservator in the Wood Conservation Studio and has more than 30 years of experience in the restoration and conservation of wooden objects. As an independent specialist, he has focused on the careful restoration and preservation of historic furniture, works of art, and utilitarian objects.
Manfred Sabor is a trained gunsmith and armourer and works in the Metal Conservation Studio. He has decades of experience in the restoration of heavy weapons in the museum context.
Alexander Harrer is a trained metalworker and serves as a conservator in the Precision Mechanics Studio. He has been a member of the team for the past two years.
Hannes Sommersacher is a certified master automotive mechanic. At the museum, he works as a conservator in the Precision Mechanics Studio and has decades of experience in the restoration of models and weapons.
Ralf Grubmann is a master craftsman in mechanical engineering and works as a metal conservator in the Metal Conservation Studio. His area of expertise is the restoration of large-scale equipment and metal construction.
Johann Haindl is a trained metalworker and heads the Metal Conservation Studio. He has been working in the field of metal conservation at the museum for decades.
Günther Hiermann is a trained carpenter with more than 30 years of professional experience. For several years, he was responsible for frame restoration and gilding at the museum. Today, he works as a conservator in the Wood Conservation Studio.
Education and Outreach
Georg Rütgen is a historian and head of Education. He develops educational programs, manages the team of tour guides, oversees training processes, and coordinates the museum’s children's club activities.He is committed to a reflective, critical, and audience-appropriate interpretation of historical subjects.
Paul Mach is the Deputy Head of Cultural Education and is therefore responsible for the conceptual and organizational development of a wide range of educational formats.
Hannes Gintenreiter is responsible for visitor communication, scheduling, administrative tasks, and the supervision and development of children's craft stations at major events within the museum’s Education and Outreach Department.
Loans and Object Management
Maximilian Maurer is an early modern historian and Head of Loans and Object Management at the Heeresgeschichtliches Museum. In addition to overseeing ongoing loan procedures, he manages the museum’s internal object database, coordinates the documentation and cataloguing of the collections, and is responsible for location management and storage organisation.
Edgar Kolbach is responsible for loan management at the Heeresgeschichtliches Museum.
Erich Kast is an administrative officer in the Department of Loans and Object Management at the Heeresgeschichtliches Museum. He supports the collection with administrative and logistical tasks and acts as an internal liaison to the museum services and security departments.
Werner Schintler is an administrative officer in the Department of Loans and Object Management at the Heeresgeschichtliches Museum. He is primarily engaged in field operations across military properties within the department’s area of responsibility.
