
The ‘Telecommunications Collection’ of the Heeresgeschichtliches Museum, which comprises an impressive number of historical telecommunication
apparatus (including quenched spark gap transmitters and receivers, telegraph and teletyping machines, radio transmission and receiver
systems etc.), is located at the Starhemberg Barracks in Vienna’s 10th district. Visitors to the barracks will gain a vivid insight into the means of communication used by the Austrian armed forces throughout their history, from items of historical interest from the 19th century, through
the telecommunications and coding technology of the Cold War to present-day military communications technology.
